How to choose the appropriate potentiometer products?

The potentiometer is composed of a resistor and a rotating or sliding system. It has three leading terminals and resistor elements whose resistance value can be adjusted according to certain changing rules. So, how to choose the appropriate trimmer potentiometer? It's a headache for many friends. The potentiometer manufacturer thinks that it's better to refer to the following three factors.

1. Reasonable selection of electrical parameters of Mini trimmer potentiometer
After choosing the type and specification of potentiometer according to the requirements of equipment and circuit, the electrical parameters of potentiometer should be reasonably selected according to the requirements of circuit, including rated power, nominal resistance, allowable deviation, resolution, maximum operating voltage, dynamic noise, etc.

2. Choosing trimmer potentiometer according to the law of resistance change
Linear potentiometers should be used for voltage regulation, operation point regulation of amplifier circuit, secondary brightness regulation and line and field scanning signal regulation in various power supply circuits. The reversed logarithmic potentiometer (formerly called exponential potentiometer) should be used in the potentiometer of sound control in audio equipment, and the logarithmic potentiometer should be used in the potentiometer of volume control.

3. Choose trimmer potentiometer according to the use requirement
When choosing potentiometer, the resistor material, structure, type, specification and regulation mode of potentiometer should be selected according to the specific requirements of application circuit. For example, high-power circuit chooses power-type wire-wound potentiometer; precision instrument and other circuits should choose high-precision wire-wound potentiometer, precision multi-loop potentiometer or metal glass glaze potentiometer; medium and high frequency circuit can choose carbon film potentiometer; semiconductor radio volume adjustment and power switch can choose small carbon film potentiometer with rotary switch; stereo audio amplifier volume can be used in high-frequency circuit. Double and axle potentiometers are optional for control; direct sliding potentiometers are optional for sound control; fine-tuning potentiometers are optional for reference voltage regulation of power supply circuit; patch multi-loop potentiometers or single-loop potentiometers are optional for potentiometers used in communication equipment and computers.

4. Pay attention to structural requirements
When choosing Mini trimmer potentiometer, we should pay attention to the size of potentiometer, the length of shaft shank and the style of shaft end, and whether the position of axis needs locking switch, single or multiple, single or multiple loops, etc., and the specific requirements on structure.
For potentiometers that need to be adjusted regularly, a potentiometer milling the axle end into a plane should be selected to install the knob. For potentiometers that do not need constant adjustment, the potentiometer with grooves at the axle end can be selected so that the potentiometer can not rotate after adjustment with screwdriver, so as to maintain the relative stability of the working state.
