Rotary switch potentiometers can be used to replace rotating pulse generators of analog functions of traditional resistive potentiometers. These rotating switches are usually used in the human-machine interface of the front panel of the instrument and the audio-visual control board. The rotary switch potentiometers use orthogonal optical encoders as pure digital devices instead of analog potentiometers. These rotating switch potentiometers are similar in appearance to traditional or resistive potentiometers. Potentiometers, but the internal structure of these rotary switches is fully digitized and optical technology is used. Similar to traditional incremental encoder products, there are two orthogonal output signals (channel A and channel B), which can be directly connected to the encoder processing chip.            

Working Principle of Rotary Switched Potentiometer            

In a certain range, the resistance is changed, and then there is a contact switch, which is the switch of the old TV and radio. If the fan has several gears, it is connected with several sets of lead wires of the fan winding, and the speed is changed by changing the number of coils. The principle is similar to that of potentiometers.
