Types of potentiometers

With the continuous development of electronic application technology, potentiometers have a wide variety of types, and each has its own characteristics. As shown in Figure 3-6, potentiometers can be divided into thin film potentiometers, synthetic potentiometers and alloy potentiometers according to the classification of resistor materials. Potentiometers are classified according to their structural characteristics, and can also be divided into single or multiple potentiometers, with switching potentiometers, locking potentiometers and non-locking potentiometers.

The 3006p potentiometer can be classified according to the adjusting mode, and can be divided into a sliding type potentiometer and a rotary potentiometer.

Potentiometers are classified according to their uses. They can be classified into ordinary, precision, fine-tuning, power and special types.

Potentiometers are classified according to contact mode, and can be divided into contact potentiometer and non-contact potentiometer.

The potentiometers described above are all contact potentiometers, including wire-wound relay, bulk metal film potentiometer, synthetic carbon film potentiometer, synthetic solid core potentiometer, metal glass glaze potentiometer, metal film potentiometer and metal oxide film potentiometer. Contactless potentiometers are mostly composed of photosensitive and magnetic sensitive devices and electronic components, in which the telex composed of photosensitive devices is called photoelectric potentiometer, the potentiometer composed of magnetic sensitive devices is called magnetic sensitive potentiometer, and the potentiometer composed of electronic components is called electronic potentiometer. The biggest feature of contactless potentiometers is the sliding noise generated by potentiometers.

Specification and marking method of potentiometer

Potentiometer specifications are usually marked directly by letters and Arabic numbers on the potentiometer. The general symbol includes the type, type, nominal resistance and rated power of the potentiometer. Sometimes 3006p potentiometer also label the output characteristics of potentiometers with the code Z for exponents, D for logarithms, and X for linearity.

The role of potentiometers in circuits

The 3006p potentiometer is an adjustable electronic element. The main functions of the potentiometer in the circuit are as follows

1. used as voltage divider.

A potentiometer is a continuously adjustable resistor. When the rotary or sliding handle of the potentiometer is adjusted, the moving contact slides on the resistor body. At this point, the output voltage of the potentiometer can be obtained, which is related to the applied voltage of the bourns 100 turn potentiometer and the angle or stroke of the movable arm.

2. used as rheostat.

When a potentiometer is used as a rheostat, it should be connected to both ends of the device, so that within the travel range of the flower bourns 100 turn potentiometer, a smooth continuous change of resistance value can be obtained.

3. used as current controller.

When a bourns 100 turn potentiometer is used as a current controller, one of the selected current outputs must be the sliding contact outlet.
